NLCIL CELEBRATES 13th PUBLIC SECTOR DAY

CMD says – “PSU’sHAVE EMERGED AS THE DRIVER OF ECONOMIC GROWTH OF THE COUNTRY”

Celebrating the spirit of PSU’s , NLCIL observed the Public Sector Day today (11.04.2022) at a function held at the lawns of its Corporate Office, Neyveli.Senior officials, Employees, representatives of recognized Trade Unions, Engineers and Officers’ Associations, Welfare Associations and Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) participated in the event. On behalf of CMD, Rakesh Kumar,the PSU flagand the NLCIL flags were hoisted by Shaji John, Director(Power) and Jai kumar Srinivasan, Director/Finance.

The Public Sector Dayis observed each year on 10^th April, under the aegis of SCOPE (Standing Conference of Public Enterprises) -the apex professional body representing the Central Public Sector Enterprises(CPSEs), with the objective of creating awareness among the general public about the role and sustained contribution rendered by Central Public Sector Enterprises in scripting the ‘Growth Story’ of India . 10^th April falling on a Sunday this year, the event was celebrated today, i.e. on 11^th April 2022.

The message of CMD, NLCIL , Rakesh Kumar, was read out by Shaji John, Director (Power), whereinlauding their contribution, CMD stated that today the Public Sector has emerged as the driver of economic growth of our country, contributing around 12-13% to the National GDP. He also mentioned with pride thatwhen the Nation was facing the crises and challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, it was the CPSEs that rose up to the occasion and provided the much needed support to the Government. CPSEs have beenfunding the COVID-19 vaccination programmeof the GoIunder their CSR schemes. NLCIL has also extended support to Andaman and Nicobar Islands by supplying cold chain equipments from its CSR Fund.

Referring to the report of the Think Tank Centre for Economic and Business Research (CEBR) which states that India would be the third largest economy by 2031, CMD further highlighted the pivotal role that would be rendered by the PSU’s towards achieving this position, by creating Self-sufficiency.

CMD lauded the efforts of the NLCIL family for the excellent performance for the just concluded FY 2021-22, during which the Company hadcreated several new production records and reposed faith & confidence that“Team NLCIL” would take the Company forward on its growth trajectory.
