04.03.2022, Gurugram: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a ‘Maharatna’ Company under Ministry of Power, Government of India, signed an MoU with Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram today for providing financial assistance for installation and operationalization of 480 smart class rooms in 240 government schools across 12 districts of Haryana.
The agreement was signed by V. K. Singh, Director (Personnel), POWERGRID and Nishant Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram in the presence of senior officials from POWERGRID and Haryana State CSR Trust.
V.K Singh, Director (Personnel), POWERGRID highlighted that POWERGRID through its CSR initiatives is trying to form a bridge between digital divide and inclusive growth by helping improve access to quality education in the country.
During this occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram emphasized that Smart Classes in Govt. schools will modernize Indian education scenario, by providing quality education to students, which is an essential requisite in today’s competitive environment.
POWERGRID has already established 330 smart class rooms in 165 government schools in 10 districts of Haryana. Further, evaluating the success of initiative and knowing very well that education is the first step in developing a sustainable workforce for the digital economy, POWERGRID has undertaken this project of providing 480 Smart Classes to various Government Schools located in various parts of Haryana. Implementation of Smart Class CSR Project in Haryana will be coordinated by POWERGRID, Northern Region-I.
At the end of Q3FY22, the total transmission assets of POWERGRID and its subsidiaries stood at 1,72,190 ckm of transmission lines, 264 substations and 4,69,600 MVA of transformation capacity. POWERGRID maintained average transmission system availability of 99.82% during nine-month FY22 compared to 99.80% in the corresponding period of the previous year.
