NLCIL Inaugurates “MAKKAL MARUNTHAGAM” A BPPI’s Retail Pharmacy ( Generic Drug Store) At Neyveli

The Government of India, had launched a project namely,“Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana” with an objective to create awareness among common public about generic medicines and to supply the generic medicines as well as other health care products at affordable price through the Pharmacy outlets namely “Janaushadhi Kendra”. The Bureau of Pharma Public Sector Undertakings of India (BPPI) under the administrative control of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers had been nominated as the implementing agency of the PMBJP Scheme.

Under the scheme of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra, a generic Medicine Pharmacy Outlet viz., “MAKKAL MARUNTHAGAM” at No.10A Main Bazaar, Block-12, Neyveli-3 was inaugurated by Shri R. Vikraman, Director/Human Resource, NLC India Ltd. in the presence of Shri M. Karthikeyan, CGM/TA, NLC India Ltd and other senior executives of Township Administration. This pharmacy will provide generic drugs, accredited by which are available at lesser cost but are equivalent in quality and efficacy, as that of expensive branded drugs prices available in the market and accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).

Dr.Munendra Kumar Jha, GS/Medical,NLCIL, GH and the Officials of Bureau of Pharma Public Sector Undertakings of India (BPPI) Shri Vijay Singh Rajput, South Zonal Marketing Manager, Smt. Santhosheema Ravi, Executive, Sales & Marketing and Shri Sakthieswar Singh, Marketing Officer have also attended the function. This Pharmacy of BPPI is first of its kind encouraged by a Public Sector Company out of 316 pharmacy outlets (out of 3500 outlets in India) in Tamilnadu, to realize the dream of Govt. of India strong commitment to reduce the cost of medicines and treatment for the patients to benefit the masses. This Pharmacy will provide the Generic Medicines at an affordable price (90% to 97% lesser compared to branded) and the Neyveli and surrounding Public will be benefited through this Pharmacy outlet.
