International Women’s Day- 2018 was celebrated by Neyveli Chapter of WIPS (Women In Public Sector) at NLCIL with the UN theme for this year being ‘Women Leaders: Insight to Commitment, Creativity& Collaboration“ on 08-08-2017 at Lignite Hall, Neyveli.
Smt.Yogamaya Acharya, President Neyveli Ladies Club & Sneha Opportunity Services, Neyveli, the chief Guest released the souvenir on the theme “Women Leaders : Insight to Commitment, Creativity& Collaboration“. In her address, she said that how women are playing major role in propelling the socio-economic growth of the country by reaching highest positions in topmost organizations and including political sphere.
Dr.S.K Acharya CMD, NLCIL in his Key note address appealed all men and women of the society to respect each other’s roles and responsibilities. To achieve human progress, women’s rights cannot be relegated to the sidelines,he added,.
Smt.Salma ,Writer, Founder & Managing Trustee of NGO “ Your Hope Is Remaining”, the Guest of Honour, in her address said that , Women, more or less, are suffering everywhere in the world. Educating and empowering women coupled with gender equality in every sphere of life ensure progress of women leading to social welfare, economic stability, and political height. Men are not reason for the hindrance of women growth, it is because of their inferirority complex that they are waekersection and their perception that they cannot compete with men.
Dr. Suja M.K, Chairperson / Dept.of Socialwork, Amrita Vishwa Vidya Peetham , Coimbatore in her special address stated that, women should raise their Self esteem, which equip them with the skills to identify what they want and what they deserve to reach. He urged,parents should start teaching their boys to respect girls for promoting respectful relationships and gender equality rather than tabooing girls from coming out.
Smt.Shanthi Vikraman , patron of Neyveli Ladies Club in her speech stated the When Women are independent, transforming themselves and bringing powerful transition in our society by bringing human progress .
Functional Directors, Shri V.Thangapandian, Shri P.Selvakumar, Shri R Vikraman and Smt. Shanthi Selvakumar, patron of Neyveli Ladies Club graced the occasion. Senior officials, women employees enthusiastically participated the programme in large number.To mark the occasion Neyveli, WIPS presents two sewing machines to needy womens of peripheral villages.
Earlier, Smt M. Vijayalakshmi ,GM/Tech/Mines President, WIPS Neyveli Chapter administered the WIPS Pledge and delivered the Women’s Day theme speech. Smt N.K Nalini, CM/Elec /TPSII General Secretary of Forum of WIPS, welcomed the gathering, Shri N.Ramalakshmi ,CM/TPS II Exp.,Coordinator of WIPS compeered the programme.
