Punjab National bank has launched Mega Mudra credit campaign on 25.9.2015. The campaign was launched by Minister of Finance Arun Jaitley from New Delhi. Udit Raj Member of Parliament was guest of honour. Anjuly ChibDuggal ,IAS Secretary Department of Financial Services , Snehlata Shrivastava Addl. Secretary Department of Financial Services and SubbaRao ecomomic advisor also graced the occasion.
Usha Ananthasubramanian MD & CEO Punjab National Bank welcomed the Chief GuestShJaitley&Senior Govt. officials &other dignitaries. MD&CEO informed that Bank has sanctioned 124900 new accounts amounting to Rs938 Cr since the launch of PMMY campaign. During the current Mega Mudra campaign 82300 new accounts have been opened &out of which 62400 accounts with amount of Rs.61.00 Cr are under Shishu category of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.
In order to help the small borrowers under Shishu category the Bank has extended the entire credit facility of Rs.50000/- in the shape of Mudra card , which is a debit card based on Rupay platform. MUDRA card will work on ATM’s/POS/E-Commerce. The rate of interest to be charged in Shishu category accounts has been reduced to 10% in order to give relief to the small borrowers .In other two category accounts rate of interest is just 1% per month.
MD & CEO informed that since PMMY is national employment generation programme launched by GOI MoF for giving employment to about 5.5 crore unemployed PNB has decided to observe Every Wednesday of the week as MAHA MUDRA LENDING DAYin all branches of the Bank pan Indiaw.e.f. 7th October 2015. Bank has also planned to organize Monthly MUDRA camps during the current FY in order to fulfill the targets under MUDRA.
ArunJaitley,Hon’ble Union Minister of Finance lauded the efforts of the PNB, in launching the Mega Mudra Credit campaign from Delhi the national capital.He said since PNB is one of leading PSU having presence pan India has to take lead in the PMMY initiative launched by worthy Prime Minister.Sh. Udit Raj, MP and Sh. ParveshVerma MP also spoke on the occasion.
Dr. R S Sangapure, Executive Director of the Bank thanked the chief guest & other dignitaries for sparing their valuable time for the camp launched by the Bank. All Senior officials of the bank were also present on the occasion.
