Rich Tributes paid to Shri K.Kamaraj
The 113th birth anniversary of freedom fighter and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, K Kamaraj, was celebrated as Education Development Day at NLC Girls Higher Secondary School, Neyveli on 15.7.2015 in a jubilant manner.
Shri S.Sridhar, GM/PR & Education presided over the function and addressed the gathering. In his speech, Shri Sridhar informed that Shri Kamaraj, on assuming the role to rule the state ordered to re-open thousands of closed Education Institutions in the State.
Also, Shri Kamaraj played a major role in seeking the approval of the then Prime Minister of India Shri Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the formation of NLC. Mid-day Meals Scheme was introduced by Shri.Kamaraj to draw students to schools. Industries and Dams were planned and built during the regime of Shri.Kamaraj, he said.
Shri.Sridhar advised the Girls to follow simple and hygiene in life as Shri.Kamaraj did. Smt.Charumathi Sridhar presented prizes to girls including Selvi Premalatha, a differently abled girl who had scored high marks in higher Secondary Exam.
Smt.R.Padmavathy Pannerselvam, Head Mistress welcomed the gathering and Smt.C.Saraswathi, Asst. Headmistress proposed vote of thanks. Smt. Dennis Barbara (RetSmt.Deva Sahaya Mary, Smt. Revathi Thiagarajan, Smt. Lilly and Smt. Jeyaseeli, Teachers of the School spoke on the occasion. About 2100 students of the school participated in the function.
The same festival was celebrated at NLC High School, Block-26, Neyveli. Smt. P.Rajalakshmi, Headmistress of the school presided over the function and Shri S.Sridhar, GM/Public Relations & Education participated as Chief Guest .
