Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with a comprehensive tree plantation drive across its headquarters and operational areas, reaffirming its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
The programme witnessed active participation from senior management, employees, and stakeholders, reflecting the organization’s continued focus on ecological conservation and green initiatives.
CMD Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande Leads Celebrations
The event was graced by Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of WCL, as the Chief Guest.

वेकोलि ने मनाया विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस
वेस्टर्न कोलफ़ील्ड्स लिमिटेड (WCL) ने विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस पर आज दिनांक 05 जून 2026 को कम्पनी मुख्यालय में वृक्षारोपण कर विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस मनाया। विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस के अवसर पर आयोजित इस कार्यक्रम में अध्यक्ष-सह-प्रबंध निदेशक डॉ. हेमंत शरद पांडे मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में तथा निदेशक (वित्त तथा मानव संसाधन) श्री बिक्रम घोष, निदेशक तकनीकी (संचालन) श्री आनंदजी प्रसाद, निदेशक तकनीकी (परि. एवं यो.) श्री संदीप परांजपे विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहे। अवसर विशेष पर संचालन समिति के सदस्य श्री एस. एच. बेग एवं श्री एस. आर. गबाले उपस्थित रहे।
प्रारंभ में कंपनी के सीएमडी डॉ. हेमंत शरद पांडे ने पर्यावरण ध्वज फहराया। उसके उपरांत वन्दे मातरम तथा कोल इंडिया कॉर्पोरेट गीत बजाया गया। तत्पश्चात सीएमडी डॉ हेमंत शरद पांडे ने कर्मियों को पर्यावरण – संरक्षण एवं संवर्धन की शपथ दिलाई। अपने संबोधन में उन्होंने वेकोलि के कर्मियों से वेकोलि द्वारा पर्यावरण संरक्षण के लिए किए जा रहे कार्यों से अवगत कराते हुए पर्यावरण संरक्षण और संवर्धन की अपील। उन्होंने संगठनात्मक कार्यों के साथ-साथ पर्यावरण संरक्षण हेतु व्यक्तिगत प्रयासों को भी महत्वपूर्ण बताया।
इस अवसर पर कोल इंडिया लिमिटेड के अध्यक्ष श्री बी. साईराम के संदेश का वाचन श्री जॉन वर्की, महाप्रबंधक (पर्यावरण) ने किया। वेकोलि द्वारा पर्यावरण संरक्षण के क्षेत्र में किए गए कार्यों पर आधारित पोस्टर्स का विमोचन किया गया। कार्यक्रम के दौरान वेकोलि द्वारा पर्यावरण दिवस के उपलक्ष में आयोजित प्रतियोगिताओं के विजेताओं को सम्मानित किया गया। साथ ही कार्यक्रम में जूट की थैलियों का वितरण भी किया गया।
