Mangaluru, June 11, 2026: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with a series of awareness and sustainability initiatives at the Employees Recreation Centre in Mangaluru, reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation and climate action.

The event was organized under the global theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” and brought together industry leaders, environmental experts, employees and stakeholders to promote sustainable practices and environmental responsibility.
Padma Shri awardee Shyam Sundar Paliwal, a renowned environmentalist and social reformer from Piplantri, Rajasthan, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Dr. Manju R., Environmental Officer of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), Mangaluru, participated as the Special Invitee.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and watering of a plant in the presence of senior MRPL leadership, including Nandakumar Velayudhan Pillai, Director (Refinery); Devendra Kumar, Director (Finance) & CFO; N. Anandha Kumar, Executive Director (Refinery); Deepak Prabhakar P., Executive Director (Marketing & Business Development); and P. Sujith, Executive Director (Projects).

Addressing the gathering, Shyam Sundar Paliwal stressed the importance of tree plantation, environmental protection and conservation of natural resources. He encouraged individuals and organizations to adopt eco-friendly habits and sustainable lifestyles to safeguard the environment for future generations.
