On 11 February 2026, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway announced the extension of the special train (train number 04688/04687) on the Budgam-Banihal route to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
To improve passenger experience, a Vistadome coach was added, which captivated travelers on its inaugural extended trip, attracting over 600 passengers. Both locals and tourists praised the Railway’s initiative for enhancing connectivity.
The Vistadome coach allowed passengers to enjoy scenic views of mountains, rivers, and tunnels through its large windows, as well as engineering landmarks such as the Chenab River bridge and the Anji Bridge.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal highlighted that this service not only enriches the passenger experience with natural vistas but also promotes tourism in the Kashmir region. Passengers voiced their enthusiasm for the special train, making their journeys memorable.
