Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) 2023 observed in Pipeline Headquarters, Oil India Limited, Narengi

New Delhi, Nov 01: As per directives of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), Oil India Limited is observing Vigilance Awareness week at the Pipeline Headquarters (PHQ) of the company at Narengi, Guwahati, from 30.10.2023 to 05.11.2023.

On 30.10.2023, the program was kicked off with the playing of OIL Corporate song at OIL PHQ’s Luitpaar Club auditorium followed by the inaugural speech by Pranab Jyoti Das, Dy. General Manager (Vigilance) and subsequent read out of the message from CVC.

The program was ceremoniously inaugurated with the lighting of Diya-s and paying of floral tribute to the portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by Abhijit Borgohain, Executive Director (Pipeline Sphere), Madhurjya Barua, Chief General Manager (HR & A), Representative from WIPS, IOWU Representatives, Senior Officials of OIL and CISF & AISF Officials present during the event.

As a part of VAW’2023, an Integrity Pledge was taken by all Oil Indians focusing on the theme of ‘Say no to corruption; commit to the nation’. Every year, this week-long campaign is observed by Oil lndians, their families and stakeholders, as they rededicate themselves to the mission of inculcating honesty and integrity in every aspect of business and personal dealings.

Abhijit Borgohain, ED(PLS), in his inaugural address, urged the gathering to recommit to the values of integrity, transparency and accountability and to examine our actions, both in our personal and professional lives, and evaluate whether they align with the principles of honesty, fairness, and ethical conduct. He also emphasized that Vigilance Awareness Week is a time to reinforce our commitment to fighting corruption and upholding the highest standards of ethics in public service as well as governance.

To celebrate the commencement of VAW’2023 as well as create awareness amongst the public against corruption and promote ethical behavior in every aspect of life, a cycle rally was also flagged off by ED(PLS) during this inaugural event.

OIL has also undertaken a public awareness campaign through the display of banners and hoardings with this year’s VAW theme and a QR code for convenience of the public to take the e-integrity pledge at prominent places in the OIL township of Pipeline Headquarters, Narengi, Pipeline Offices, CoEES Office, Pump Stations and RT stations as well as at the Guwahati Airport. The initiative also includes streaming of radio jingle on Vigilance Awareness through radio channel BIG FM 92.7, Guwahati.

OIL has also lined up various other activities during this week-long campaign. These include Mobile LED Display Van to create awareness against corruption among the citizens of Guwahati City, Quiz, Essay and Drawing competitions among students from various schools and colleges in Guwahati.  

As a part of vigilance awareness outreach program, there will also be Street Plays and a Gram Sabha which will be held on 03.11.2023 and 05.11.2023 respectively to create increased awareness among citizens. Additionally, online wallpaper design competition, essay writing competition amongst Employees, Spouses and CISF and Online quiz competition have also been organized for intra-company awareness to help create a corruption-free working environment within the organization.
