The 25th Neyveli Book Fair 2026, organized by NLC India Limited (NLCI, was inaugurated by Puducherry Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan, IAS (Retd.), marking the Silver Jubilee edition of one of the largest literary events in Tamil Nadu. The ten-day fair, running until June 29, 2026, aims to promote reading habits, knowledge sharing and educational development among students and the public.

The 25th Neyveli Book Fair 2026, the Silver Jubilee edition of the prestigious literary event organized by NLC India Limited (NLCIL), was inaugurated on June 19, 2026, by K. Kailashnathan, IAS (Retd.), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. The event marked a significant milestone in the journey of the Neyveli Book Fair, which began in 1998 and has grown into one of the most prominent literary gatherings in Cuddalore district and surrounding regions.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director, NLCIL, along with Functional Directors including Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines), Samir Swarup, Director (HR), Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, Director (Finance) and Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia, Director (P&P) and Power (Additional Charge). Senior executives, employees, representatives of welfare associations, teachers, students and members of the public also participated in the event.

In his address, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli highlighted the remarkable growth and reputation of the Neyveli Book Fair, describing it as one of the best-organized book fairs in the country. He recalled that former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam had once expressed a desire to visit the fair, reflecting its national recognition. He emphasized the educational impact of the event, noting that more than 30,000 students from Neyveli Township and over 70,000 students from nearly 1,000 schools visited the previous edition of the fair.

Addressing the gathering, Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan paid tribute to Jambulinga Mudaliar, whose land donation played a crucial role in the establishment of NLCIL. He expressed pride in participating in the Silver Jubilee celebrations and stressed the importance of book fairs in nurturing reading habits among children and youth. According to him, reading promotes knowledge, while knowledge develops skills that are essential for achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The Lieutenant Governor appreciated NLC India Limited for fulfilling its social responsibilities through educational and community-oriented initiatives such as the book fair. He also suggested that the Neyveli Book Fair be expanded into a full-fledged literary festival in the future.

A major highlight of the event was the release of a new book authored by Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, titled “Perfect Take Off: Leadership & Workplace Principles.” The publication presents 25 practical principles aimed at helping professionals strengthen leadership qualities and advance their careers.

The inaugural day concluded with a grand light music programme, adding a cultural dimension to the celebrations. The Neyveli Book Fair 2026 will continue for ten days and conclude on June 29, 2026, offering visitors access to a wide range of books, educational resources and literary activities.
