VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK-2023 INAUGURATED AT NLC INDIA LIMITED

New Delhi, Oct 31: The Vigilance Awareness Week 2023, beingobserved by NLC India Limited in line with the directions of the Central Vigilance Commission, was inaugurated on 30.10.2023 at Yegneswaran Auditorium, Learning & Development Centre, Neyveli.

NLC India Limited is observing the Vigilance Awareness Week 2023 from 30.10.2023 to 04.11.2023 on the theme “Say No to Corruption, Commit to the Nation”. 

            Thiru R. Thiruppathi Venkatasamy, IA&AS, Accountant General, (Audit-II), Nagpur, Maharashtrawas the Guest of Honour of the Inaugural function. K Mohan Reddy, Director/Planning & Projects, Presided over the function. Samir Swarup Director/Human Resource and Appakannu Govindarajan, IPoS, Chief Vigilance Officer graced the occasion. Ashok Dattatraya Keote, Chief General Manager/Vigilance Welcomed the gathering.

To mark the Inauguration function,Kuthuvilakku was lit by the Guest of Honour, Functional Directors and CVO. The Integrity Pledge in Tamil, Hindi and English respectively were administered to the participants.Messages on Vigilance Awareness Week 2023 from Hon’ble President of India, Hon’ble Vice-President of Indiaand Central Vigilance Commissioner were read out.

CVO/NLCIL released a handout containing the Vigilance Awareness Week 2023 message in trilingual and presented them to the dignitaries on the dais and to the participants.

The CVO/NLCIL while addressingsaid that eradication of corruption is a must for becoming a developed nation. He said that new IT enabled initiatives like AI based Face Recognition System for automated attendance of employees which minimized security risks were taken up in NLCIL. He also detailed various activities and initiatives to be conducted during the Vigilance Awareness Week and Lectures and Seminars that are arranged. He also elaborated on the activities undertaken as precursor to VAW 2023 at NLCIL.He informed that meetings with vendors and contractors are arranged.

Speaking on the occasion, K. Mohan Reddy, Director (P&P), said that NLCIL had taken many initiatives for transparency and accountability. He also remarked in his address on the impact of corrupt practices that would not only slow down the growth but also result in loss of revenue to the Nation.

Thiru R. ThiruppathiVenkatasamy, IA&AS and Guest of Honour, spoke on how we need to be careful while dealing with administrative and technical procedures to avoid unintentional corrupt practices. He also started that corruption can adversely affect three levels of progress – that of the individual, the society and the Nation. He called upon each person to strive hard so that the Nation is ranked more favorably in the corruption index of Transparency International. The role of officers in eradicating corruption is very important, he added.

            To mark the occasion, the Guest of Honour released a customized wooden, desktop pen stand that contain the theme of Vigilance Awareness Week 2023.A booklet on PIDPI was also released which would help an individual to raise a complaint under the Resolution. A. Eraniyan, Chief General Manager, proposed the Vote of Thanks.
