Ghaziabad, Jan 4 –The Uttar Pradesh Awas and Vikas Parishad has terminated the UNI Cooperative Housing Society 1404 President, Kusum Lata Sharma and barred her for three years from contesting election in the society for allegedly founding her guilty in various financial irregularities in the Society’s accounts.
She has also been charged with not submitting certified by chartered accounts the annual balance sheets of the accounts from 2017 to 2023. The journalistic Society situated in Sector 11, Vasundhara, Ghaziabad, was allotted land by the Awas and Vikas parishad under clause 1965 and 1968 of the Cooperative Laws under which it is statutory to submit annual balance sheets of the accounts to the Parishad.
Some members have complained to the Uttar Pradesh Government’s Cooperative Department about the financial irregularities following which Cooperative Minister JPS Rathore had ordered an inquiry into the matter about seven months back. A two-member Committee was set up by the Registrar of the Cooperative Societies, Vinay Mishra. The Committee also confirmed financial irregularities in the Society’s accounts.
The Registrar, through his December 29, 2023 order removed her from the post and barred her for three years from
contesting any election in the UNI Housing Society for any post in the Managing Committee. It was also found that large cash amounts were withdrawn from the Society’s account with Punjab National Bank Vasundhara Branch in individual names which is against the cooperative laws. Mrs Sharma was also failed to convince the Parishad why she had not sought certified accounts copies from the previous managing committee while taking charge Some members, including the Vice President of the Managing Committee, had also complained about the dictatorial style of functioning of the President, Mrs Sharma, who always turned down their request, including that by more than 30 members of the society, to convene a General Body Meeting for the past more than one year.
Earlier, the Parishad had asked the Committee Members to remove Mrs Sharma from the post of President by October 31 which they could not do so. However, Society’s Secretary, Ms Sushila and Treasurer, Ekta Singh and one Committee member, Mr Gera resigned about two months back from the Committee. Without taking approval of the Awas and Vikas Parishad, the President instead of stepping down by October 31, inducted members of her choice against these vacancies which the Parishad found ultra vires.
