The leader of the upper house of parliament, Chairman C P Radhakrishnan, paused the morning session on Wednesday. He stopped the meeting until noon because opposition parties created a massive ruckus.
The opposition leaders protested against the police. They said the police used wooden sticks and tear gas on students on Monday. It’s because the students protested after someone leaked the NEET exam papers.
The Congress party led the protests in the parliament building. This is the third day that members stopped the work. Mallikarjun Kharge tried to speak about the student protests. Kharge leads the Congress party. He wore a black band on his arm. He said the police actions hurt him deeply. Many other politicians from his party wore black shirts and traditional kurtas.
Politicians from the ruling party shouted back at Kharge. Their loud shouting forced the chairman to pause the meeting. It’s clear that both sides refuse to back down.
Before the shouting, the members stood in silence to remember twenty people. An accident at a river project in Sikkim killed those people. The chairman also praised a new train. India built this clean hydrogen train locally. He congratulated the Prime Minister and the railway team for this success.
