New Delhi, May 14: Tesla has accelerated its India expansion strategy with the launch of its first experience centre in Bengaluru, marking a key milestone in tapping into the country’s fast-growing electric vehicle (EV) market.

Located in the Whitefield technology hub, the new facility enables customers to experience Tesla’s flagship offerings, including the Model Y and the newly introduced Model Y L, priced from ₹61.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The company has also rolled out an after-sales service network in the city, strengthening its ownership ecosystem and addressing a critical component of EV adoption—service and support infrastructure.

The Model Y L, a six-seater electric SUV, is positioned as a premium family vehicle, offering a driving range of up to 681 km (WLTP) and acceleration from 0–100 kmph in approximately five seconds. The model features a three-row seating configuration and cargo capacity of up to 2,539 litres, targeting consumers seeking space, performance, and long-range capability.

Tesla highlighted that both Model Y variants have secured top safety ratings from global agencies, including NHTSA and IIHS in the US, Euro NCAP in Europe, and ANCAP across Australia and New Zealand, reinforcing the brand’s safety credentials.

Charging infrastructure remains a core differentiator, with Tesla’s Supercharging technology enabling the Model Y L to gain up to 288 km of range in just 15 minutes. The company also confirmed the availability of home charging solutions in India, aimed at improving convenience and accelerating EV adoption.

Tesla has opened bookings for the Model Y L via its official platform, signalling readiness for commercial scale-up in the Indian market.

Beyond Bengaluru, the company already operates experience centres in key metro markets including Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram, indicating a phased urban expansion strategy focused on high-income, tech-driven consumer segments.

Overall, Tesla’s Bengaluru entry underscores its intent to build a strong premium EV ecosystem in India, combining product, infrastructure, and service capabilities to capture early-mover advantage in a rapidly evolving mobility landscape.
