New Delhi, Oct 31: The Swachh Bharat Special Campaign 3.0 has been successfully carried out at NLC India Limited with a focus on cleanliness and reducing pendency in offices, paving the way to create “Wealth from Waste”.
The SwachhBharatSpecial Campaign is being conducted from 2021 onwards at NLCIL. ThisYear also, as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, NLCIL conducted the Special Campaign 3.0 from 2nd October 2023.This Special Campaign is aimed at maintenance of cleanliness in the Industrial area and offices by disposal of pending matters by putting invigorous efforts.
The chief activities undertaken asstipulated by the Ministry are identification of site for cleanliness campaign, planning for space management and beautification, indentifying scrap and disposal, identifying pending public grievances and references from government agencies, simplification of rules and procedures and record management. NLCIL identified 92 sites from 19 Units including Outside Projects and Offices.
Aspart of Space Management,NLCIL is developing two parks in the Industrial area,namely“Cauvery Garden” inaround 1.8 lakhsq.ftby convertingthe thermal slag dump area and replacing it with top soil and “VaigaiPark”, in an area measuring around67,000sq.ftbyremoving235.170TonnesofScrapandconvertingitintoagreen space.
WithinNeyveliTownship,a garbagedumpareahas beenfreedandisbeingusedforestablishing“PunaruthanCharkha Udyan” in an area of 36,000 sq.ft.In this Park, aCharkha and a sculptureof Gandhiji, made entirely from scrap materials sourced from Minesare planned to be installed. Anumber of metal sculptures made entirely from scrap arebeinginstalled.Achildren play area along with walkway and water fountain are also being made ready whichwill attract visitors from far off places.
Out of the targeted campaign sites, cleaning activities in 92 sites of 19 units werecompleted within the targeted time. The area cleared for the purposeful utilisationisaround 9.17 lakh sq.ft, against the target of 8.03 lakh sq.ft. Scrap collected and disposedis 1576 MT against the target of 953 MT. The revenue generated by Scrapdisposal is about Rs. 4.56 Crores. At the offices, out of the total 9300 files reviewed, 8488 files we restored in the Optimiser and 812 files were weeded out.
NLCIL has also organised Mass Cleaning campaigns, which have improved general awareness among the employees and because of this, wastes are being disposed at the designated collection points, resulting in a better ambience, both at the Industrial and residential areas. NLCIL has completed the targeted activities before the scheduled date, 31-10-2023 and further steps are being taken for increasing the activities more effectively.
