New Delhi, July 10: The 5th day of the Neyveli Book Fair, 09.07.24, saw a sea of enthusiastic students from schools and institutions of Cuddalore district. NLCIL has made elaborate arrangements to receive the students and provide them with snacks and water bottles on arrival. The children enjoyed the Book Fair with delight.
The evening function of the day was held at Lignite Hall in the book fair grounds.
Professor Senthil Arasu from NIT, Trichy was the Chief Guest while Samir Swarup, Director (HR) presided over the function.
Dr. A. Husain was honoured as the “Best Writer” while M/s. Nivethitha Pathippagam, Chennai, was honoured as the “Best Publisher”. A book, “Korea Naattuppura Kathaigal” written by Pallavi Kumar was released in the function.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest of the function, Professor Senthil Arasu from NIT, Trichy, said that after seeing the Book Fair this evening, he was convinced that it was indeed the second largest book fair in Tamil Nadu as was being claimed. He also said that, after seeing the Book Fair and the students participation, he now understood how so many Neyveli students could get admission to IITs and NITs. He advised the children to try and acquire as much information and knowledge as possible which would help in making wise decisions. He also stated that a research undertaken in Italy concluded that reading a physical book was more advantageous than reading a digital book. Success is directly proportional to the number of books you read, he said. The best investment one can make is in reading and getting more knowledge, he said.
Delivering the presidential address, Samir Swarup, Director (HR), NLCIL, said that books were our best companions. Developing the reading habit would lead to success in life. He said he hoped that the Book Fair would help in promoting the reading habit among children. He also appreciated the Organising committee for organising many events and on-the-spot competitions for the visitors and specially, children.
A scintillating dance performance by Neyveli school students was presented after the function.
