New Delhi, Feb 17: In 2026, Indian Railways announced two significant reforms aimed at enhancing services and operational efficiency.
The first reform focuses on continuous cleaning of trains, especially general coaches, integrating cleaning processes throughout the journey instead of at limited stations.
A dedicated team will ensure cleaning, along with technology-based monitoring to maintain standards.
The second reform develops the Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal Policy by expanding the number of cargo terminals from 124 to over 500, integrating processing capabilities, and streamlining approvals to facilitate logistics.
This initiative is projected to boost revenue significantly and includes measures to prevent disputes in terminal operations. Additional reforms are planned throughout the year as part of a comprehensive transformation agenda for Indian Railways.
