Railway Board Directs Expeditious Implementation of Dankuni–Surat Dedicated Freight Corridor

New Delhi, Feb 13: Indian Railways has expedited the implementation of the Dankuni-Surat Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) as part of the Union Budget 2026.

Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized timely execution of this 2,100 km corridor, enhancing freight movement across various states and improving logistics efficiency. DFCCIL officials are tasked with updating the Detailed Project Report with new cost estimates and timelines, ensuring better planning.

Key features will include high-capacity electrification, no level crossings, and advanced signaling systems for safety and throughput. Pre-construction activities are being prioritized to avoid delays, with weekly progress reports to the Railway Board.
