Appreciating the contribution of every member of NTPC family on the occasion of 40th Raising day of the company today, A.K. Jha , CMD, NTPC  said that performance of each player matters for success of any team. Calling NTPC a value based ethical National Institution he said Productivity and efficiency would help NTPC overcome challenge of increasing fuel bills and bring down cost of power. He added that NTPC is the pride of the nation and a trusted company which is an enthusiastic participant in all the new initiatives in the sector  like fuel swapping for  cost rationalization,  National Solar Mission and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan etc.

The Raising Day Celebrations was graced by U P Pani, Director(HR), K Biswal Director(Finance) and K K Sharma, Director(Operations). All projects and Regional Head Quarters witnessed the programme through LIVE webcast across the company .

Mentioning about National Solar Mission and NTPC receiving the lowest tariff bid of Rs. 4.63 per unit of electricity for 500MW solar park scheduled to be put up in Andhra Pradesh, Shri Jha said this is new beginning in the sector. He expressed faith that NTPC will soon be a leader in the solar sector like thermal for which we all need to work harder and faster to achieve our goals to be the best power producer in the World.

Speaking on the recent successes of the company Shri Jha said our financial results have been good with improved generation.  The process of reallocation of coal blocks is  also complete and MDO has been appointed for Pakhri Barwadih Coal Mine.  He lauded the Vindhaychal team for commencement of  timely commercial operations of 500 MW of Unit 13.

Talking of use and introduction of new technologies he shared that the first 800MW ultra super critical unit at Kudgi is expected to come on stream this financial year,  solar thermal with storage  for which NTPC’s research arm NETRA is   collaborating with IIT Bombay, use of flue gas for water treatment and air cooling , carbon capture and introducing solar cooking in all NTPC canteens.
