31 December 2024, Gurugram: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a ‘Maharatna’ Public Sector Enterprise under Ministry of Power, Government of India, has signed a landmark green loan agreement with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC)on 31stDecember 2024 at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, underscoring its pivotal role in India’s renewable energy transformation.
This facility denominated in JPY for a US Dollar equivalent of 200 million with a greenshoe option of US$150 million highlights the strategic collaboration between POWERGRID and SMBC to develop critical infrastructure for renewable energy evacuation and integration into the national grid.
This loan agreement was signed in the presence of G. Ravisankar, Director (Finance), POWERGRID, L.K. Khajkumar, ED(Corporate Planning), POWERGRIDand other senior officials of SMBC and POWERGRID. Ashwani Kumar Gupta, ED(Finance), POWERGRID and Sriram Kumondur, Managing Director & Head, India Offshore Banking, SMBC & Manoj Kaushik, Branch Head, SMBC, Gift City signed this agreement on behalf of POWERGRID and SMBC respectively.
The green loan emphasizes POWERGRID’s commitment to supporting India’s energy transition goals while adhering to the highest environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. The funds will be instrumental in facilitating renewable energy projects, enhancing grid reliability, and promoting sustainable development across the country.In line with its commitment to sustainable development, POWERGRID has integrated ESG principles into its core business operations and adopted ESG vision and targets.
POWERGRID is actively working towards achieving its goals of net zero emissions by 2047, 50% of energy consumption from renewable sources by 2025, zero waste to landfill by 2030, and being net water positive by 2030.

With the adoption of the latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation and digital solutions, POWERGRID has been able to maintain average transmission system availability of 99.80%.

31 दिसंबर 2024, गुरुग्राम: पावर ग्रिड कॉर्पोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया लिमिटेड (पावरग्रिड), भारत सरकार के विद्युत् मंत्रालय के तहत एक ‘महारत्न’ सार्वजनिक उद्यम, ने सुमितोमो मित्सुई बैंकिंग कॉरपोरेशन (SMBC) के साथ दिनांक 31 दिसंबर 2024 को गिफ्ट सिटी, गांधीनगर, गुजरात में एक ऐतिहासिक ग्रीन लोन एग्रीमेंट पर हस्ताक्षर किया है, जो भारत के अक्षय ऊर्जा परिवर्तन में पावरग्रिड की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका को रेखांकित करता है।
150 मिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर के ग्रीनशू विकल्प के साथ 200 मिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर के बराबर जेपीवाई में मूल्यांकित यह सुविधा अक्षय ऊर्जा निकासी और राष्ट्रीय ग्रिड में उसके एकीकरण के लिए महत्वपूर्ण बुनियादी ढाँचा विकसित करने के लिए पावरग्रिड और SMBC के बीच रणनीतिक सहयोग को रेखांकित करती है।इस ऋण समझौते पर श्री जी. रविशंकर, निदेशक (वित्त),पावरग्रिड, श्री एल. के. खजकुमार, कार्यपालक निदेशक (केंद्रीय आयोजना), पावरग्रिड तथा एसएमबीसी एवं पावरग्रिड के अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों की उपस्थिति में हस्ताक्षर किए गए।
इस ऋण समझौते पर पावरग्रिड की ओर से श्री अश्विनी कुमार गुप्ता, कार्यपालक निदेशक (वित्त) तथा एसएमबीसी की ओर से श्री श्रीराम कुमोंदूर, प्रबंध निदेशक एवं प्रमुख, इंडिया ऑफशोर बैंकिंग एवं श्री मनोज कौशिक, शाखा प्रमुख, गिफ्ट सिटी द्वारा हस्ताक्षर किये गए।
ग्रीन लोन उच्चतम पर्यावरणीय, सामाजिक और शासन (ESG) मानकों का पालन करते हुए भारत के एनर्जी ट्रांज़िशन लक्ष्यों का समर्थन करने के लिए पावरग्रिडकी प्रतिबद्धता को जाहिर करता है।यह राशिअक्षय ऊर्जा परियोजनाओं को सुविधाजनक बनाने, ग्रिड विश्वसनीयता बढ़ाने और पूरे देश में सतत विकास को बढ़ावा देने में सहायक होगी। सतत विकास के प्रति अपनी प्रतिबद्धता के अनुरूप, पावरग्रिड ने अपने मुख्य व्यवसाय संचालन में ESG सिद्धांतों को एकीकृत किया है और ESG विजन और लक्ष्यों को अपनाया है। पावरग्रिड 2047 तक नेट जीरो उत्सर्जन, 2025 तक अक्षय स्रोतों से 50% ऊर्जा खपत, 2030 तक लैंडफिल में शून्य अपशिष्ट और 2030 तक नेट वाटर पॉजिटिव होने के अपने लक्ष्यों को प्राप्त करने की दिशा में सक्रिय रूप से काम कर रहा है।
