New Delhi, Dec 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Rs 6,957 crore Kaziranga Elevated Corridor in January 2026, aiming to balance wildlife conservation with infrastructure development in Assam.
This 34.45-km corridor will traverse nine animal corridors along NH-715, enhancing connectivity while protecting wildlife by allowing safe animal passage underneath.
Currently, the highway poses risks during monsoon floods as animals, particularly elephants and deer, cross it frequently, leading to accidents. The project is expected to generate about 35 lakh person-days of employment and promote eco-tourism while adhering to environmental sustainability principles.
