PM Modi Meets Google CEO Sundar Pichai at India AI Impact Summit 2026

Focus on AI Collaboration and Empowering India’s Tech Talent

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Sundar Pichai on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, discussing India’s rapid strides in artificial intelligence and potential collaboration with Google.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister described the meeting as a “delight,” highlighting conversations around India’s growing AI ecosystem and how Google can partner with the country’s talented students and technology professionals.

“It was a delight to meet Sundar Pichai on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit in Delhi. Talked about the work India is doing in AI and how Google can work with our talented students and professionals in this field,” PM Modi said.

The discussions underscored India’s emphasis on leveraging its skilled youth and expanding opportunities in cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence.

Global Participation at Bharat Mandapam

The summit is being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from February 16 to 20. It has brought together policymakers, industry leaders, academicians, innovators, and civil society representatives from across the globe.

More than 110 countries and 30 international organisations are participating, with around 20 Heads of State or Government and nearly 45 ministers attending the event.

First Major Global AI Summit in the Global South

Significantly, this is the first major global AI summit hosted in the Global South. The conference reflects India’s vision of “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” — welfare and happiness for all — and aligns with the broader global principle of “AI for Humanity.”

The strong international presence highlights growing global momentum toward responsible AI development and deployment, with India positioning itself at the centre of international discussions on the future of artificial intelligence.
