The Hague, May 16 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India is emerging as a major global force powered by innovation, economic growth and human-centric development, while describing the country as “a land of opportunities driven by both technology and humanity.”

Addressing the Indian community in The Hague during his visit to the Netherlands, PM Modi said the world is passing through a decade marked by major challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic and ongoing geopolitical conflicts.

PM Modi Pushes India-Europe Economic Partnership

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of stronger international cooperation to tackle rising global uncertainties and said India and the Netherlands are deepening collaboration in key sectors such as energy security and water management.

“India and the Netherlands are steadily expanding cooperation in critical sectors such as energy security and water security,” he said.

Highlighting India’s growing engagement with Europe, PM Modi said the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement could significantly strengthen economic ties and create new business opportunities.

He added that the Netherlands could serve as a strategic gateway for Indian companies seeking expansion across Europe.

The Prime Minister also praised the Indian diaspora for strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Addressing the enthusiastic gathering, PM Modi said the affection shown by the Indian community made him feel as though he was celebrating a festival in India.

“Seeing so much love and enthusiasm, I forgot for a moment that I am in the Netherlands,” he remarked, calling The Hague a living symbol of India-Netherlands friendship.
