OIL-SIPRD extends financial assistances, credit to 410 joint liability groups reaching 1930 families

6 Aug, 2021, Duliajan:With the core objective of creating avenues for sustainable self-employment among unemployed youths, farmers and women in particular, Oil India Limited under its CSR project Rupantar organized a credit disbursement program for 410 joint liability groups from OIL operational areas in the three districts of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Charaideo with a total project cost of Rs. 605.10Lakhs (Rupees Six Crore Five lakhs and Ten thousand). The disbursement program was held at Rupantar Growth Centre, Tipling, Duliajan on 6th August, 2021. Implemented by project partner, State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development (SIPRD), Assam, around 1930 families are extended support in FY 2020-21 out of which 230 female groups have received handloom units, 150 groups received farm mechanization, and 30 groups are benefited with agro product carrier.

Due to COVID-19 protocols in place, the disbursement program today was held in modest manner with a limited participation of 20 groups receiving farm mechanization units comprising of a power tiller, water pump and sprayer; 2 groups receiving agro product carrier and 6 groups receiving handloom units. In the meanwhile, all other beneficiaries have already been provided with the inputs as per the different nature of the projects. 100 women JLGs belonging to Baghjan will be receiving the looms and other assistance after they complete the mandatory training at the growth centre, which will be held shortly.

Shri Prasanta Borkakoty, Resident Chief Executive, OIL FHQ graced the occasion as the chief guest in the presence of Shri S. P. Deka, ED (ES,IC & DOR)& Chairman of Project Rupantar Committee, Shri Rajeeb Kumar Borah, CGM (HR&A), Shri Arunjyoti Baruah, CGM(Admin), Shri Trideeb Saikia, GM(Public Affairs)& Vice Chairman of Project Rupantar Committee, Shri Tridiv Hazarika, DGM (CSR&CC) &and Secretary of Project Rupantar Committee  and other members of the Committee and officers from Public Affairs Department.

Shri Prasanta Borkakoty and other dignitaries ceremoniously handed over the assistances under project Rupantar to the beneficiaries present on the occasion. Shri Borkakoty congratulated the beneficiaries for receiving the assistances from OIL and urged the beneficiary to look for innovations in developing agricultural productivity, entrepreneurial attitude and collectively creating a locally sustainable rural market through a cooperative movement.
