New Delhi, June 22: NTPC Bongaigaon Hospital, in collaboration with the CISF unit and Civil Hospital Kokrajhar, organized a successful blood donation camp recently.
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of CISF personnel and NTPC employees, resulting in the collection of 50 units of blood, addressing the critical issue of acute blood shortage.

The camp was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, I.S. Reddy, General Manager (Operation and Maintenance),NTPC Bongaigaon. Reddy was joined by A. Biswas, General Manager (Maintenance), Dr. D. Paul, Chief Medical Officer of NTPC Bongaigaon, M S Kandari, Asst. Commandant, CISF (Fire),members of the Ladies Club,CISF Heads of Departments and doctors of Kokrajhar Civil Hospital, as well as representatives of various unions and associations.
Following the inauguration, an awareness session was conducted by Pediatrician Dr. Kriti Agrawal. The session highlighted the importance of regular blood donation and its vital role in saving lives. Dr. Agrawal emphasized the urgent need for blood donors and encouraged participants to donate blood annually to support those in critical need.
The blood donation camp is part of the hospital’s ongoing efforts to address the severe shortage of blood in the region. The initiative also aims to spread awareness about the significance of blood donation and inspire more individuals to contribute to this noble cause.

The above camp was conducted on June 14th,2024 coinciding with the World Blood Donor Day, commemorating the birthday of Karl Landsteiner (1868–1943), the pioneer of blood transfusions. This event marks a day of hope and generosity, reminding us of the profound impact that a single act of donating blood can have on countless lives.
