New Delhi, May 17: NTPC Limited’s Bongaigaon station, under the aegis of its Employee Welfare Association (EWA), celebrated Bohagi Utsav 2026 on May 14, marking the culmination of Assamese New Year festivities and reinforcing its focus on employee engagement and cultural inclusivity.

The celebration, organised as part of the station’s employee welfare and cultural outreach initiatives, witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees, their families, and invited guests.
The event was inaugurated by Anurag Gupta, General Manager (Operations and Maintenance), in the presence of Kasturi Maitra, President of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club.

Addressing the gathering, Gupta highlighted the multicultural character of the NTPC Bongaigaon township, describing it as a convergence of diverse traditions and communities. He noted that celebrating festivals from different cultural backgrounds under one platform reflects the organisation’s commitment to inclusivity, unity and social harmony.
The cultural programme showcased a broad spectrum of performances reflecting the region’s ethnic and artistic diversity. A classical Sattriya dance performance formed a key highlight, while folk dance presentations by Tiwa, Bodo and Rabha cultural troupes captivated audiences through traditional music, vibrant costumes and indigenous dance forms.
The evening also featured energetic Bihu dance performances and traditional Husori presentations by local artistes, offering a vivid display of Assam’s cultural heritage and festive traditions.
The rhythmic accompaniment of traditional instruments such as the Dhol and Pepa added to the festive atmosphere, creating an immersive cultural experience for attendees.
The celebrations additionally incorporated elements of Bwisagu, the traditional New Year festival of the Bodo community, symbolising cultural integration and communal harmony within the township.
Heads of departments, employees, members of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club and township residents participated in the event, contributing to the festive spirit and community engagement.
NTPC Bongaigaon said such cultural initiatives provide an important platform for employees and their families to engage with regional traditions while strengthening workplace cohesion and social bonding.
The celebration reflects NTPC Bongaigaon’s continued emphasis on employee welfare, cultural preservation and fostering an inclusive organisational environment.
