NLC INDIA CELEBRATES 67TH RAISING DAY

NLC India Limited celebrated its 67th Raising day as Gratitude Day today (20.05.2023).

New Delhi, May 22: On this day, in 1956, Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, had laid the foundation for the nation’s largest integrated open cast lignite mining and Thermal Power project at Neyveli.Growing from strength to strength from its humble origins, NLC India has today evolved into a pan India company with its projects in Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Andaman & Nicobar islands.

NLC India has always believed that this growth story has been possible due to the hard and persistent efforts of all stakeholders, past and present.As a token of gratitude to all its past visionaries, employees and workers who shaped the company’s trajectory, NLC India has been observing the Raising day as Gratitude day every year.

This year also, the Raising Day was celebrated in a grand manner as a tribute to all its past and present officers, employees and workmen.

Flag Hoisting

The celebrations began with hoisting of the NLCIL flag in all its projects and Units in the morning. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL, hoisted the NLCIL flag at the lawns of the Corporate Office in the presence of Ex-CMDs and Ex-Directors of the company. Earlier, Prasanna Kumar, CMD, garlanded the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and JambulingaMudaliar, an erstwhilelandlord of the then South Arcot district, who had first donated vast tracts of lands to the company for utilization of lignite deposits in the area.

New Arch Gate

The majestic Neyveli Arch Gate has always been a notable landmark located on the busy National Highway 45A. As the Arch Gate had to be moved due to the four-laningof the Highway, the same was removed and a new Arch Gate constructed. The new Arch Gate was inaugurated on the occasion of the Raising Day by, Prasanna Kumar,CMD, NLCIL, in the presence of past CMDs, Directors, employees of NLCIL and the general public.

Speaking on the occasion, CMD said that the new NLCIL Arch Gate, with its futuristic design, symbolised the business model of the company where flexibility in work environment played a big role. He complimented the entire NLCIL family on the occasion of the inauguration of the Arch Gate on Raising Day and expressed the hope that the company would attain more successes in the future.
