AIADMK party workers from Tenkasi want VK Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran back. On Tuesday, they met party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and asked him to readmit the two leaders. This step surprised many people.

They believe these two will make the party strong again. Right now, the party’s support is slipping in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. The local workers want to win back voters from the Thevar community.

This request caused a bit of a political tussle. Palaniswami held the review meeting to check his party’s health. Workers in other districts also raised the same issue.

He listened. But Palaniswami did not make a decision. He gave no hints.

Dhinakaran recently spoke about a possible join-up. He said a merger depends on the current political climate.

The party kicked Sasikala and Dhinakaran out after former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa died. Later, Dhinakaran started his own party, AMMK, in 2018. Sasikala also launched her own party, AIPTMMK, in March 2026.
