MRPL Organises Beach Cleaning Campaign on World Environment Day

New Delhi, June 03: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), in association with the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), organised a beach cleaning campaign at Iddya Beach near Surathkal, Mangaluru, as part of its World Environment Day 2026 initiatives.

The environmental awareness programme brought together government officials, students, community representatives and MRPL employees to promote coastal conservation and highlight the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.

The event was attended by Rajshekar Puranik, Senior Environmental Officer, KSPCB Mangaluru, as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Manju R., Environmental Officer, KSPCB Mangaluru, participated as a special invitee.

Members of the Nagarika Salaha Samithi, Surathkal, led by Satish Sadanand, students from Govinda Dasa College and MRPL officials also joined the initiative.

Senior MRPL executives, including H.S. Rajeev, Group General Manager (HSE), Krishna Pillai Anil Kumar, Chief General Manager (HSE), Prasanna Kumar T., General Manager (HSE), and Rajendra Acharya, General Manager (HSE), were present during the programme.

More than 150 volunteers and MRPL employees actively participated in the beach cleanup drive, collecting waste and helping improve the cleanliness of the coastal area.

The campaign aimed to raise awareness about environmental pollution, particularly marine litter, and its adverse impact on coastal ecosystems, biodiversity and marine life.

MRPL said the initiative reflects its continued commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement, while supporting broader efforts to promote cleaner beaches and responsible waste management practices.
