Mega Tree Plantation Drive by CISF: Planted 2.33 lakh (approx) saplings in a single day

New Delhi, 25.07.2021: Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah today launched a massive tree plantation drive from Meghalaya. He emphasised that this campaign would go a long way in meeting our challenge against global warming and climate change.

In line with the initiative taken by the Union Home Minister, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the premier paramilitary force of the country also joined the noble cause. 25th July 2021 was observed as ‘Plantation Festival’ in all Units of CISF. Leading this effort, Shri Sudhir Kumar Saxena, DG, CISF along-with other senior officers and personnel planted fruit bearing and traditional Indian trees on 25.07.2021, at a function organized at CISF campus Shastri Park, New Delhi. During the function, DG, CISF emphasised that we all have to come forward and join the campaign for a green and clean India.  He pointed out that trees are the true treasures for us all and that by planting trees and nurturing them, we are securing the future of our children and the generations to come.

The CISF personnel believe whole-heartedly in this cause. The officers and other members of the force along with their family members have reiterated their commitment towards environmental protection, by actively participating in this drive and planting 2.33 lakh (approx) saplings today, in all CISF Units across the country.

‘Sanrakshika’ or the CISF Wives Welfare Association also lent its full support to this endeavour by joining the mass tree plantation drive. President-“Sanrakshika”, Smt. Priyamvada Saxena, along with other senior members of Sanrakshika, officers, personnel and their families participated in the drive and planted saplings of fruit bearing and traditional Indian trees at CISF campus 5th Reserve Battalion, Ghaziabad. The participation of the families, including children was quite overwhelming.

The trees for the plantation drive have been carefully chosen keeping the local topography in mind so that they may contribute to environmental sustenance and to supplement daily requirements. Thus 50% of trees are long life trees i.e., traditional Indian plants like Neem, Sheesham, Peepal, etc & 50% are fruits bearing trees like mango, jamun, etc. These were planted in all 352 CISF units and 75 formations across the country on 25.07.2021. These saplings would be protected and taken care of to ensure that they grow-up into large trees.

The dedication and commitment of CISF to the cause of Green and Clean India is reflected in their remarkable achievement of planting 2.33 lakh (approx) saplings in a single day, and also in the fact that they will nurture the saplings till they grow into large trees.  The CISF personnel have truly emerged as ‘Green Warriors’.
