The transfer was completed on June 12, 2026, following the successful conclusion of the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL in its role as the Bid Process Coordinator. Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited emerged as the successful bidder and will now undertake the development of the transmission project under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model.
The formal handover ceremony was conducted by Shri Ratnesh Kumar, General Manager (Engineering), RECPDCL, who transferred the SPV to Ms. Vineeta Shriwani, Company Secretary, and Shri Amit Naik, Chief Engineer (TBCB), Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited. The event was attended by senior officials from MSETCL, Maharashtra State Transmission Utility (STU), and RECPDCL.
The transmission project is aimed at strengthening Maharashtra’s electricity infrastructure and supporting future power demand growth across the region. The project includes the establishment of a 400/132 kV substation at Jalna, along with approximately 135 kilometers of 132 kV double-circuit transmission lines connecting Jalna (New) to Jalna MIDC, Jalna (New) to Partur, and Jalna to Ghansawangi and Utwad.
With an estimated investment of ₹912 crore, the project represents a significant addition to Maharashtra’s transmission network and is expected to improve grid reliability, facilitate power evacuation, and enhance electricity availability for industrial, commercial, and residential consumers.
The infrastructure expansion comes at a time when Maharashtra continues to witness rising electricity demand driven by industrial growth, urbanization, and economic development. The new transmission assets are expected to support efficient power flow, reduce transmission constraints, and improve overall grid stability in the region.
The project has been scheduled for completion within 24 months, reflecting the state’s commitment to modernizing power infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to support long-term economic growth.
As one of India’s leading power sector financing and project development entities, RECPDCL continues to play a crucial role in facilitating competitive bidding and accelerating transmission infrastructure projects across the country. The successful transfer of Jalna Power Transmission Limited further highlights the effectiveness of the TBCB framework in attracting experienced utilities and ensuring timely execution of strategic power projects.
The handover of Jalna Power Transmission Limited to Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited marks an important milestone in strengthening Maharashtra’s power transmission network. With a planned investment of ₹912 crore, a new 400/132 kV substation, and 135 km of transmission lines, the project is expected to enhance grid reliability, support industrial expansion, and meet the state’s growing electricity requirements. The development reinforces India’s broader efforts to modernize transmission infrastructure and build a resilient power ecosystem for future growth.
