India, Netherlands Set to Deepen Strategic Partnership During Modi Visit

New Delhi, March 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday invited global investors to “make, invest, innovate, and scale” in India’s power sector, positioning the country as a key destination for energy investments and partnerships.

In a message delivered at the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026 by Power Secretary Pankaj Aggarwal, the Prime Minister said India stands at a defining moment in its energy transition as the world’s fastest-growing major economy.

He highlighted that the summit aims to bring together the entire power ecosystem to foster collaboration, exchange ideas, and drive long-term sectoral growth aligned with the vision of a developed India by 2047.

Emphasising sustainability, Modi noted that India has already achieved over 50 per cent non-fossil fuel capacity and is on track to reach 500 GW by 2030. He also pointed to global initiatives such as One Sun, One World, One Grid as part of India’s push for international energy cooperation.

The Prime Minister said India is emerging as a reliable energy partner by strengthening supply chains, advancing battery manufacturing, and creating green jobs. Policy reforms, including the SHANTI Act 2025 and schemes like PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, are expected to drive investment and support distributed renewable energy adoption.

He added that ongoing reforms in the distribution sector are reducing aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses and improving financial health, creating a more efficient and sustainable power ecosystem.

With large-scale investment opportunities across generation, transmission, and distribution, Modi said India offers a compelling platform for global investors seeking growth, scale, and long-term value creation.
