Ahead of the formal engagements in New Delhi, To Lam visited Mahabodhi Temple in Bihar, where he offered prayers after being welcomed by state officials.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held preliminary discussions with the Vietnamese President, focusing on strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.

The visit comes as India and Vietnam mark 10 years of their upgraded strategic ties, with both sides aiming to expand cooperation across trade, defence, and regional security.

During his stay until May 7, President To Lam is scheduled to hold wide-ranging talks with Prime Minister Modi and meet President Murmu, along with other senior leaders.

The itinerary also includes a visit to Mumbai, where he will engage with business leaders, visit the National Stock Exchange, and attend a business forum.

The Ministry of External Affairs said the visit is expected to inject fresh momentum into bilateral relations and open new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.
