Centre Releases ₹37,000 Crore Under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme

New Delhi, Sept 13: India is positioning itself as a global leader in hydrogen technology, aiming to become a hub for innovation, manufacturing, and deployment through its National Green Hydrogen Mission.

Union Minister of State Shripad Yesso Naik stated that green hydrogen is crucial for decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors like steel, cement, and shipping, aligning with India’s Net Zero by 2070 goal. The mission seeks to not only consume but also lead in this clean energy sector, fostering job creation, reducing import dependence, and enhancing global competitiveness.

The government is supporting over 200 R&D projects and providing funding, testing facilities, and incubation programs to facilitate breakthroughs. A recent Green Hydrogen R&D Conference highlighted these efforts, featuring numerous technical sessions, discussions, and a startup exhibition showcasing Indian hydrogen technologies.
