New Delhi, Feb 1: India’s Union Budget 2026-27 increases development aid for several neighboring countries, notably increasing allocations for Bhutan (Rs 2,288.56 crore), Afghanistan (from Rs 100 crore to Rs 150 crore), Nepal (up by Rs 100 crore to Rs 800 crore), and Sri Lanka (from Rs 300 crore to Rs 400 crore).
However, support for Bangladesh is cut from Rs 120 crore to Rs 60 crore, while reductions are also seen for the Maldives (from Rs 600 crore to Rs 550 crore) and Myanmar (from Rs 350 crore to Rs 300 crore).
Overall, the Ministry of External Affairs’ budget rises from Rs 20,516.62 crore to Rs 22,118.97 crore.
