New Delhi, Nov 29: India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced ongoing negotiations for fair trade agreements with 14 countries representing nearly 50 nations, including the US and the EU.
He highlighted concluded agreements with Australia, the UAE, and others, emphasizing the importance of trusted partners and resilient supply chains amid global challenges.
Goyal reinforced India’s self-reliance ethos, citing historical influences and the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative under Prime Minister Modi. The recent EFTA agreement commits $100 billion to India, showcasing its competitive edge in innovation and technology, particularly in emerging sectors like AI and automation.
He stressed the need for enhanced skilling of youth to harness India’s youthful demographic’s potential in tech and innovation, as well as ongoing reforms boosting ease of doing business. Goyal encouraged a mission-driven approach for fostering innovation and research to support India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
