India Expands Skill Development Cooperation with Finland

New Delhi, March 05: India and Finland on Thursday held a high-level meeting to advance cooperation in skill development, vocational education and workforce mobility.

The talks were held between Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Matias Marttinen, Finnish Minister of Employment.

According to the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the discussions reflected growing convergence between the two countries in building resilient, future-ready talent ecosystems. India highlighted its ambition to emerge as a Global Skill Capital, leveraging its young workforce and expanding skilling infrastructure, while noting Finland’s strengths in vocational and technological training.

Both sides explored structured mobility frameworks, mutual recognition of vocational qualifications, trainer capacity building and alignment of skill standards with global requirements. Key sectors identified for collaboration include healthcare, construction, green technologies and advanced manufacturing.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to promote ethical and sustainable workforce mobility through stronger institutional partnerships and continued dialogue.
