New Delhi, Sept 10: India added 3.8 gigawatts (GW) of solar open-access capacity in the first half of 2025, with Maharashtra accounting for over 30 per cent of Q2 installations.
Cumulative solar open-access capacity reached 24.6 GW by June 2025, led by Karnataka. In the same period, India installed 2.8 GW of rooftop solar capacity, a 158 per cent increase year-on-year, primarily driven by the residential segment. Cumulative rooftop capacity was 16.5 GW as of June 2025, with Gujarat and Maharashtra topping the list.
