HPCL, IFSDMS Join Hands for Advanced Live Fire Emergency Training

Mumbai, March 06: : Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has signed an agreement with the Institute of Fire, Safety & Disaster Management Studies (IFSDMS) to strengthen emergency response capabilities through specialised live-fire training programmes for its officers.

The agreement was signed by Dharmendra Kumar Sharma, Executive Director – Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) at HPCL, and Dharmendra Wakharikar, Chief Coordinator at IFSDMS, in the presence of Vikram Mahurkar, President of IFSDMS and Managing Director of Checkmate Group.

As a Maharatna CPSE and a major player in India’s energy sector, HPCL operates an extensive network of refineries, depots, terminals and more than 21,000 fuel retail outlets. The collaboration aims to enhance operational preparedness by combining classroom training with realistic live-fire simulations to equip officers to handle high-risk industrial emergencies.

The IFSDMS facility near Vadodara spans 75 acres and provides advanced fire and disaster management training through industrial mock-ups such as process units and LPG facilities. The centre conducts live-fire drills designed to replicate emergency situations encountered in large-scale industrial operations.

Through the partnership, HPCL aims to further strengthen its safety culture, improve workforce readiness and enhance response capabilities to safeguard critical energy infrastructure and manage industrial emergencies effectively.
