Gujarat dispatches special relief train to flood-hit Punjab, aids Chhattisgarh

New Delhi, Sept 11: Gujarat has dispatched a special relief train to flood-affected Punjab, carrying over 400 tonnes of food grains, 70 tonnes of medicines, and thousands of essential supplies including tarpaulins, mosquito nets, and bedsheets. Additionally, Gujarat has sent Rs 5 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to both Punjab and Chhattisgarh for flood relief operations.

This humanitarian aid, coordinated by Gujarat’s Relief Commissioner’s office with contributions from various departments, reflects the state’s commitment to assisting those in distress.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Rs 1,600 crore in financial assistance for Punjab, along with an advance release of disaster relief funds and agricultural grants, emphasizing a multi-dimensional approach to recovery including housing, infrastructure, and livestock support.
