Green Hydrogen Set to Power India’s Clean Energy Transition

India Set to Achieve 5 MMT Green Hydrogen Capacity by 2030

New Delhi, Nov 13: India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission aims to establish 125 GW of renewable energy capacity for green hydrogen production, attracting investments over Rs 8 lakh crore and creating 6 lakh jobs.

This initiative will lower fossil fuel imports by over Rs 1 lakh crore and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 MMT annually by 2030. Launched in January 2023, the Mission focuses on policy, demand creation, research, and infrastructure to position India as a global green hydrogen hub.

It includes plans for certified green hydrogen production, support for R&D, and partnerships to enhance domestic manufacturing and exports, with Rs 400 crore allocated for innovative hydrogen projects.

Three major Indian ports have been designated as Green Hydrogen Hubs to facilitate production and export.
