New Delhi, March 31: Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding to enhance human capital development and support India’s rapidly expanding aviation sector.
The collaboration focuses on standardising Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) education and launching a three-year B.Sc. (AME) programme aligned with global standards and industry requirements. The initiative aims to build a skilled workforce to support the growing Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) segment.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and K Ram Mohan Naidu, highlighting the government’s focus on strengthening aviation infrastructure and talent pipelines.
The programme will be piloted in the 2026–27 academic year at select institutions, including GMR School of Aviation and Air India AME Academy, before a phased national rollout.
GSV will also collaborate with DGCA on research in emerging areas such as Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and conduct specialised training for regulatory personnel. The partnership aims to create an integrated ecosystem linking academia, industry, and regulation.
The initiative aligns with India’s broader strategy to reduce dependence on foreign MRO services, strengthen domestic capabilities, and position the country as a global aviation maintenance hub.
