New Delhi, Feb 26: The groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming R&D Centre of GAIL (India) Limited was held in Sector 22, Industrial Model Township (IMT), Sohna, Haryana.
The ceremony was led by Chairman & Managing Director Sandeep Kumar Gupta in the presence of Director (BD) Rajeev Kumar Singhal and other senior officials.
Spread across 30 acres with a built-up area of 85,000 square metres, the state-of-the-art facility is envisioned as a future-ready innovation hub to strengthen GAIL’s technological capabilities in both core operations and emerging clean energy domains.
The Centre will host seven major research verticals, including Natural Gas Pipeline Integrity & Asset Management, Natural Gas Applications & NG/CO₂ Valorisation, Petrochemicals & Polymers, Renewables, Biotechnology, Nanotechnology and Advanced Analytical Sciences.
It will also feature advanced pilot-scale infrastructure such as closed-loop pipeline testing systems, pull-through rigs, and pilot reactors for polymer and gas valorisation research.
The R&D Centre aims to bridge laboratory research with field deployment, foster collaboration with academia and startups, and accelerate indigenous technology development. It is expected to play a key role in supporting India’s energy transition and advancing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
