New Delhi, May 01: Ravi K has assumed charge as the 22nd Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), succeeding D K Sunil, who retired on April 30, 2026.
With over three decades of experience across aerospace, defence, manufacturing, and electronics, Ravi K previously served as Director (Operations) at HAL, where he played a key role in strategic planning and contributed to the company attaining Maharatna status.
Outlining his vision, he emphasised transforming HAL into a globally competitive aerospace and defence enterprise, driven by innovation, artificial intelligence, and operational excellence.
Ravi K has held several leadership roles within HAL, including Executive Director and General Manager of the LCA Tejas Division and Executive Director (Corporate Planning). He was instrumental in securing major contracts, including the supply of 180 LCA Tejas aircraft to the Indian Air Force and 156 LCH Prachand helicopters to the Indian Army and Air Force.
He is also credited with operationalising the Tejas fleet and improving serviceability through customer-focused initiatives, including enhanced data integration with Air Force bases and streamlined support systems.
During his tenure, Ravi K strengthened indigenous capabilities within the Tejas programme by increasing local content and expanding production capacity in Nashik. He also advanced HAL’s manufacturing ecosystem by partnering with private sector players for key assemblies, boosting efficiency and delivery timelines.
Additionally, he has led diversification efforts into civil manufacturing and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services, creating new revenue streams and expanding HAL’s market footprint.
A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Malnad College of Engineering, Ravi K is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and ISAE-SUPAERO. He also serves as Nominee Director on the board of Multi-Role Transport Aircraft Limited.
