CISF personnel detected “67 Indian Activated SIM cards”  in luggage of an International departure passenger at IGI Airport, New DelhiNew Delhi, 22.12.2023:

On 18.12.2023, at about 2120 hrs, on the basis of behaviour detection, CISF surveillance & intelligence staff of IGI Airport noticed suspicious activities of an International departure passenger who entered into T-3 building of IGI Airport. On the basis of strong suspicion, CISF personnel carried out physical checking of his luggage.

During physical checking, 67 Indian SIM cards were detected in his luggage which were in active condition in the name of different Indian persons. The individual was later identified as Mr. Lai Jhin Ping, a Taiwan national, who was bound for Bangkok by Thai Airlines flight no. TG 316 (STD 0020 hrs).

On tactful questioning, it was revealed that he arrived from Bangkok by Thai Airlines flight no. TG 315 (STA 2244 hrs) to collect 67 Indian Activated SIM cards. He could not reply satisfactorily for carrying the SIM cards.

The matter was informed to the Senior Officers of CISF, IB and Immigration Officials. The passenger along with 67 Indian Activated SIM cards was handed over to Immigration for further legal action in the matter.  

Later, it was learned that the said passenger was further handed over to Delhi Police for legal action in the matter.
