More than 35 experts and representatives of dam and hydro companies from Canada will participate in the 92nd annual meeting and symposium of the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) 2024 in New Delhi, from September 29 to October 3, 2024. ICOLD 2024 will focus on ‘Dams for People, Water, Environment and Development’.
The mission, organised by the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) of Global Affairs Canada, in collaboration with the Canadian Dam Association, will consist of representatives of 16 companies that will exhibit at the Canada Pavilion during ICOLD 2024.
Canada’s Minister (Commercial) Jennifer Daubeny will inaugurate the Canada Pavilion (Hall no 14, ITPO, Pragati Maidan) on September 29. The Trade Commissioner Service team will facilitate discussions between Indian stakeholders and Canadian companies during ICOLD 2024. The event will provide an opportunity for Indian companies to interact and explore synergies with Canadian companies looking to do business in India.
Additionally, representatives from Hydro Quebec, BC Hydro (The British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority), Ontario Power Generation, University of Alberta and other experts will participate as speakers and through technical paper submissions.
Speaking ahead of the ICOLD event in India, Canada’s Chargé d’affaires Stewart Wheeler said: “Canada has some of the largest dams in the world, making it the second-largest producer of hydropower globally. Canadian expertise spans the entire lifecycle of hydropower projects, from design, construction and instrumentation to operation and maintenance. The ICOLD symposium will highlight significant opportunities for Canada-India collaboration in the field of dam safety and rehabilitation, and sustainable hydropower. By leveraging each other’s strengths, we can ensure the safety and sustainability of our dams.”
