Air India Express Reconnects India with Qatar, Bahrain

Aid for Domestic Airlines to Offset ATF Costs

New Delhi, May 01: Air India Express has announced the restoration of flight operations to Qatar and Bahrain, alongside an expansion of its Gulf network, effective April 30, 2026.

The airline has reinstated connectivity from key Indian metros and regional hubs, including Amritsar, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Kannur, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Tiruchirappalli, Thiruvananthapuram and Varanasi.

Operations will continue across major Gulf destinations, including cities in the United Arab Emirates such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Al Ain, as well as Muscat in Oman, and Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam in Saudi Arabia. Services to Kuwait will also remain operational.

Backed by the Tata Group, the airline currently operates over 500 daily flights across 45 domestic and 17 international destinations, supported by a fleet of more than 100 Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft.

Separately, the airline reported a brief operational disruption earlier this week when a flight from Delhi to Bhubaneswar was diverted to Jaipur due to adverse weather conditions. The aircraft landed safely, and operations resumed once conditions improved, with no injuries or damage reported.

The resumption and expansion of Gulf operations signal a recovery in regional air connectivity and underline the airline’s strategy to strengthen its presence across high-demand international routes.
