New Delhi, Sept 13: Adani Power Ltd (APL) has entered into a 25-year power supply agreement with Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd (BSPGCL) to provide 2,400 MW of power to Bihar.
This supply will originate from a new ultra super critical plant, to be established at Pirpainti in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district, under a Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model. APL secured this project by offering the lowest supply rate at Rs 6.075 per kWh.
The estimated investment for this plant, comprising three 800 MW units, is approximately $3 billion. Coal linkage for the plant has been secured through the government’s SHAKTI Policy. The project is projected to create 10,000-12,000 jobs during construction and 3,000 upon becoming operational, with a target commissioning within 60 months.
Separately, APL was also awarded an additional 800 MW capacity under a ‘Greenshoe Option’ by MP Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL), bringing its total awarded capacity from MPPMCL to 1,600 MW. These two 800 MW units in Madhya Pradesh are also slated for commissioning within 60 months, involving an investment of around Rs 21,000 crore and generating 9,000-10,000 construction jobs, plus 2,000 operational roles.
