Ahmedabad, March 16: Adani Power Limited on Sunday said it has received a Letter of Award from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to supply 1,600 MW of electricity from one of its upcoming ultra-supercritical thermal power projects.
The company emerged as the lowest bidder in the competitive process, quoting a combined tariff of ₹5.30 per kWh. Power supply under the proposed 25-year power supply agreement is expected to commence from FY 2030-31.
The latest contract adds to the company’s growing pipeline of long-term agreements amid renewed investments in India’s thermal power sector. During FY25-26, Adani Power has secured five long-term PSAs with a combined capacity of 10,400 MW.
Chief Executive Officer S. B. Khyalia said rising electricity demand in India requires reliable long-term capacity addition and the award highlights the company’s ability to deliver dependable baseload power at competitive costs.
Following the award, Adani Power has tied up long-term PSAs for 13.3 GW out of its 23.8 GW capacity currently under implementation. More than 95 per cent of its existing operating capacity of 18.15 GW is already secured under medium-to-long-term contracts.
The company is undertaking a major thermal power expansion programme, targeting an increase in capacity from 18.15 GW to 41.87 GW by FY31-32 with planned investments of about ₹2 lakh crore to meet India’s growing electricity demand.
